Register protest against Centre govt over Electricity Amendment Bill 2022 notification of Electricity Amendment Bill 2022
Ferozepur, Subhash Kakkar, September 20, 2022:
After the notification of Electricity Amendment Bill 2022 , the KMSC is once again lodged their protest against the Centre Government and on Friday Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee – KMSC – today announced to register their protest against the decision of the Central government on September 20 and 21 across Punjab for notification of the Electricity Amendment Bill 2022, by advancing the privatization policy of the government.
On the first day, in connection with this, a protest was held today in Grain Market of Sultanpur Lodhi of District Kapurthala by burning the effigy of the Central Government. Apart from this, in Fazilka, Jalalabad, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, etc., effigies of the Modi government were also burnt in large gatherings.
KMSC leaders said that electricity is the subject of states and comes in the concurrent list. The central government has forcibly taken over the power rights of the states and will be given to private companies. With this, the state will not be able to back electricity nor will they be able to take electricity or give to any other state, due to which the Electricity Regulatory Commission will become a dummy and electricity will be out of reach of the people.
The farmer leaders have also asked the Punjab government as to why it is mum over the issue which clearly speaks of its consent for the privatization move of the Centre government.
- They said, a meeting of the Core Committee of the state has been fixed for September 23 in which further course of action will be announced.
