Expressing his expressions and views on the International Elders Day, the Civil Surgeon Ferozpur said that Elders are our capital and everyone should give proper respect to the all elders of our society and The Punjab health department provides certain free health facilities to the elderly above 60 years, said Dr Rajinder Pal, Civil Surgeon while speaking on the day dedicated to the International Older Persons Day.
The International Day of Older People is observed on October 1 each year. On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older People. The holiday was observed for the first time on October 1, 1991. The overall umbrella theme for the United Nations International Day of Older Persons in 2022 is “Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World.”
Revealing more on the occasion, Dr. Rajinder Pal, Civil Surgeon of Ferozepur, said, on this occasion the facility of free check-up, free test, free physiotherapy, free prescription etc. is provided to the persons above 60 years of age. He also informed that 5 beds for men and 5 beds for women for the elderly in the government hospital have been reserved.
The government has also issued a toll-free number ‘14567’ for the convenience of the elderly, where they can call for any kind of assistance, he added.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajinder Pal appealed to the general public on this day that the elderly should be given their due respect in our homes and everywhere in the society because the elderly are our capital and we should take advantage of their life experience.
