Chandigarh September 25, 2022: Aiming to eradicate corruption in the state the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested a Clerk Kirandeep Singh, posted at Municipal Committee, Sunam, district Sangrur while he was demanding a bribe of Rs 01 lakh.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the above-mentioned Clerk has been arrested on the complaint of Pawan Kumar, a resident of Sunam city.

He informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that he had applied in the Municipal Committee to get the approval of map of a residential building to be constructed on his plot but the said clerk was demanding a bribe of Rs one lakh in lieu of getting clearance of his file.

After verifying his information and the evidence procured, the VB registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Police Station Patiala and arrested the accused clerk. Further investigation, in this case, is under progress.
